Student Sample 3: Absolutism Newspaper
This group’s project was creative, well-written, and informative—in other words, a perfect example of student work. Each of the newspaper’s articles is descriptive, providing all important and relevant information; similarly, the newspaper articles were well-written and made deep connections that other groups lacked. These students were also well-prepared to present their newspaper and were able to answer all questions with ease; this shows me that the students knew and understood the material, and had done sufficient research on their topic. This group received a perfect score (30/30) on this project.

Student Sample 4: Absolutism Newspaper
This group’s project is an example of a poor-quality sample of student work. Each article was short and without much supporting evidence or explanation; furthermore, the information that the students did incorporate was taken almost directly from the textbook, illustrating the students’ limited knowledge of the material. Similarly, during the presentation, these students were unable to answer questions or properly explain their topic. The students also lost points for not following directions (for example, while four relevant pictures were required, the students did not include any pictures). All things considered, this group received a score of a 15/30 on this project.
